After joining Monchengladbach with high hopes in January, the 25-year-old went on to make only two brief appearances in the second half of the 2016-17 season.

In the summer, the French defender then picked up a thigh injury and did not feature for Gladbach in their first three matches of the new domestic season.

"At his new club in Mexico, where he has signed a three-year deal, the centre-back will meet up with fellow Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac," a statement on Gladbach's official homepage read.

"Borussia wish Kolo all the best for his sporting future."

According to kicker, Gladbach are set to receive a €3.75m for the defender.
