The Grizzlies roared to life in Game 3 with a huge 104-95 comeback victory following a dismal first three quarters. For the T’Wolves, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns struggled mightily and Towns got off just four shots the entire game and only one in the fourth quarter.

Memphis opened up as a tidy 3-point road favorite, fed in part by that epic comeback on Thursday night. What was lost in the contest was the mere fact that both teams went well below the expected under of 236.5. This game can be seen on ESPN.

Timberwolves Hope to Even Series
Minnesota was a truly roller coaster team in Game 3 on Thursday. They were up big in the first quarter and then couldn’t hit a shot in the second. They netted just 12 points in the second quarter which was a harbinger of things to come.
Anthony Edwards chipped in with 19 and D’Angelo Russell led the way with 22 points and eight assists. However, the T-Wolves shot just 34% from three-point land and 39% from the field. This was a game where Chris Finch’s team capitulated in the fourth quarter.
They were outscored a whopping 60-24 in the second and fourth quarters as Memphis used the second quarter to stay in the game and then the bigger fourth quarter run to seize the lead and run away with Game 3. No one from Minnesota could stop the bleeding as again, there were too many stretches of missed opportunities.
Aside from Edwards and Russell, who had okay nights at best, there was not nearly enough point efficiency from the rest of the rotation.
There is no question the Grizzlies played better at the end of quarters — particularly at the end of each half. However, Minnesota folded like an accordion. One of the keys became foul trouble. Karl-Anthony Towns was one the main culprits. Minnesota overall had 28 fouls compared to Memphis’ 20.
The Timberwolves have to get more from down low. More importantly, they have to relax and get off better shots later in games. They failed in that when it came to Game 2 and again in Game 3.

Grizzlies Game 4 Effort Must Be Consistent
Now, this was still an uneven Memphis effort in Game 3. This was not like Game 2 where the contest turned into more of a demolition. However, Memphis came through when it counted most.
By no surprise, Ja Morant led the charge with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists but he also received a ton of help from the supporting cast. Four others finished in double-figures as Desmond Bane led all scorers with 26 points.
It would honestly be hard to find a flaw in how Memphis played the fourth quarter on Thursday. The Grizzlies outscored the Timberwolves by 25 points (37-12). Brandon Clarke had 12 points in the final stanza including six made foul shots.
Their bench outscored Minnesota 42-21 as well. On both ends, the Grizzlies played the big points in the game much better than Minnesota did. They would not be intimidated.
Morant and Co. need to keep playing like the second and fourth quarters every quarter. After all, Minnesota ranked first in the league with 14.8 three-point makes per game in the season. The perimeter defense must be on point again for Memphis. They held the Timberwolves to 12 of 35 from three-point range in Game 3. It was making shots tougher that turned the tide.

The Grizzlies should have lost Game 3. Now, since they won, there is this growing feeling that Memphis should be able to take a 3-1 series lead. Again, Memphis can play the bigger junctures of the game better and more composed compared to Minnesota. The difference shows and the Grizzlies will cover that three-point spread Saturday night.
