The 25-year-old Pereira spent last season on loan at Lazio, with previous loan stints at Spanish clubs Granada and Valencia. He remains under contract at Old Trafford through 2023.

He is the second Premier League player to join Flamengo on loan, with Chelsea sending winger Kenedy to the Rio de Janeiro side earlier this week.

Flamengo also confirmed the transfer of 20-year-old forward Rodrigo Muniz to Championship club Fulham for a reported fee of €8 million.

Winners of 2018 Copa Libertadores, Flamengo are back in the semifinals of the competition, where they'll take on Ecuadorian club Barcelona SC next month.
